Site Maintenance

Some thoughts I’ve had:

1. A field of ‘More Info Required’ that can be listed in a similar way to ‘Missing in Action’ to show which entries are a bit light on content or where the author is unsure of the info?

2. A related people list like related products?

3. Can the related products do a less-fuzzy match so that it treats the freelinked text as whole rather that as space delimited so that ‘Andy Monk’ doesn’t match any other ‘Andy’s?

4. Removing anonymous comments or adding anonymous editing with registered users able too roll-back to pervious versions.

And before I forget

Can node 122 be zapped as it is duplicate with Sam Users Mailing List.

probably...

1. Yes, can do. Though it will take a little php hackery first.

2. Where would this be displayed? On the product pages it would just be duplicating information which is already there; on the person pages I don’t think it would pick up many hits of pages which directly refer to other people (except where they’re probably listed anyway).

3. It’s on the list, but it will be quite difficult to do this properly without having quite a severe impact on site performance. Certainly I won’t do a full-text search on every page view. I may be able to do an && between terms in the word index, but it won’t be perfect: a product page mentioning Ian Slavin and Andrew Collier would be picked up on Ian Collier’s page, but hopefully there are only a few instances of this sort of thing.

4. I don’t quite see what you mean. I don’t think it’s necessary to remove anonymous comments, as I haven’t spotted any abuse so far(). I may eventually re-evaluate this. Rollback of bad edits is a separate issue, but drupal’s implementation seems to delete the newer revision (which opens up the possibility of abuse by bad rollbacks) so I haven’t enabled that on other user accounts for the time being.

() Well, except for several inept attempts by an on-line g4mbIing site to spam comments, but I think they’re using a cached PHP session or something, and haven’t managed to post a single one yet.

1. Lovely. 2. This would be

1. Lovely.

2. This would be on the person pages only - it was kind of to group related people together although I’m on my 17th coffee of the day and it maybe less useful than I first thought.

3. Lovely.

4. This was kind of motivated by the fact they there are a lot of anonymous comments coming in but not a lot of content being added (or in the case of most of my posts - corrected :-P) - if people could anonymously post info to the wiki then it might be better, but there would need to be an element of control by registered users. With the rollback issue that would be too bad to trash the posts after roll back so maybe not such a good idea.

2.

2. That’s what I mean. It would only work if you mention it on both pages, otherwise there’s nothing to search on, yet if you’ve done that then it’s redundant.

Ah right I see now.
