Sam Revival issue 16 now out...

Issue 16 of Sam Revival magazine is now out from Quazar. (Click here for pricing and ordering details…)

Sam Revival is a printed magazine with spot colour and an accompanying cover disk of software and aims to be packed full of Sam Coupé news, interesting features, articles and interviews, catering for everything Sam related.

This issue features the full Sam game Colony on the coverdisk, which was
written by Derek Koselo. Colony is a Sim style game where you setup and
run a planetary mining colony. This game also features full support for the
Quazar Surround soundcard if you have one.

Inside the magazine you’ll find an interview with Derek discussing the game
as well as his other work on the Sam. Another feature article takes a look
at the work started on the game Chrome by Colin Piggot and delves into what was planned
and the article is accompanied with lots of colour shots. And there are all the other
regular sections including the new combined news section, letters pages and
Sam Snippets.

Sam Revival issue 16 now out...

Subscribers copies will be sent out in the post on Monday morning (22nd).

I’m aiming for the next issue (17) to be out by the end of February, and so far pencilled in for the issue is ‘TnT’ by Matt Round on the coverdisk, and a new developer diary section with news on some software that’s in development by a few programmers.

Just to update further, issue 17 should be out before the end of February. (Cover pic is now up on my website, and preordering details)

The coverdisk will be featuring two full games on the coverdisk - T’n’T by Matt Round as mentioned previously, and also a special edition version of Money Bags 1 1/2. MB1.5 originally featured on Soundbyte issue 68 but for the SR coverdisk i’ll be replacing the original Quazar Surround music with a new SAA music track by David Suzuki-Sanders.

In the magazine itself there’ll also be an article looking at what happened to Kaboom, should be an interesting read once i’ve pieced all the info together into the final article charting its development, and accompanied with 4-6 colour pages of graphics from it’s initial concept to the nearly completed game.

I gave this magazine a try. I originally had a SAM Coupe in 1991 for several years and read Fred and Format, and seeing one again at a London Retro show I picked one up on ebay last year to go back to my retro roots (still have ZX Spectrum, C64 and CPC!)

Interesting to read what is going on. Interviews are always fascinating to read to get to the nitty gritty of what went on in the past, and that 3D game looked like it would have been the dogs danglys! Lots of letters and answers which shows there is still life in the SAM Coupe.

I think I will now pick up a couple back issues. Well done to the writers.
