News

Issue 20 of Sam Revival magazine is now out from Quazar. (Click here for pricing and to order…)

Sam Revival is a printed colour and b/w magazine with an accompanying cover disk of software and aims to be packed full of Sam Coupé news, interesting features, articles and interviews, catering for everything Sam related. The first issue launched in August 2002, and the magazine is now read by Sam users in 17 countries, including of course the UK and most European countries.

Inside the issue you’ll find all the regulars covering all the latest news in the SAM Coupe world, and there is the welcomed return of the letters pages. Feature articles include information on using the EEPROM that’s onboard the Trinity Ethernet Interface, with source code provided on the cover disk too. The developer diary looks at the work undertaken by Simon Owen on writing an Ethernet Driver for the Trinity and the start of his work on porting CPC/IP to give the SAM it’s first suite of internet enabled programs.

The issue also features three full games on the coverdisk, there is Booty and Invaders - two of Jupiter Software’s past commercial releases, and the third game is a SAM version of the The Light Corridor - originally writen 17 years ago by the Spanish programmers who did the MSX and ZX Spectrum versions, but the SAM publishing deal fell through so it was never released.

This issue of Sam Revival costs £3.99 for the UK, or £4.79 for EU including Airmail postage. You can also subscribe for six issues at a discounted price of £21.98 (UK) or £26.98 (EU). More information at the Quazar website at www.samcoupe.com

Coming up in SAM Revival issue 21

The next issue of SAM Revival magazine is well underway. Some of the features of the issue include an interview with David Gommeren and Rob Mies, formerly of the demo coding group ‘The Lords’, an article about using the MMC / SD card slot on the Trinity Ethernet Interface, and a Developer Diary looking at the work undertaken to patch B-DOS to use it.

The coverdisk will be featuring The Lords’ two full SAM Games - Batz n’ Balls and Tetris, as well as their demos from 1990-1.

Plus plenty of other stuff too including all the latest news from around the SAM scene.
