Aesthetix

Graphic artist going under the names of ‘Shades’ and ‘Aesthetix’ whilst producing work for Fred Magazine.

Sound Sampler

Peripheral

Blue Alpha

Adrian Parker

The Blue Alpha Sound sampler was a mono 8-bit DAC to provide sampling and playback of sound samples.

A straight forward product that was hindered by the fact that in order to play back samples other people also needed the unit.

Was well used by Stefan Drissen’s SAM MOD player

PDF Manual Scan at www.samcoupe-pro-dos.co.uk

Possibly the worst piece of SAM Hardware ever. Playback was only possible with the sampler plugged in, and samples were of very poor quality. This particular sampler also caused a large amount of distortion to the television display.

The software that was supplied with the sampler was very crude, and the ‘manual’ was badly photocopied and held together by a single staple in the corner.

- Stewart Skardon

Joy Mouse

Peripheral

Blue Alpha

An attempt to bring a mouse interface to market before the official SamCo Mouse Interface was released.

The device allowed a mouse to be attached to a joystick port although reports that it was unresponsive did not help it’s sales.

Hardly any software was written to use the Joy Mouse and once the SamCo interface was released complete with a Contrivor Atari ST/Amiga mouse it vanished from view.

Blue Alpha

Hardware vendor run by Adrian Parker and Mark Hall.

Produced a number of devices including the Joy Mouse, VoiceBox and the Sound Sampler

Trivia:

The Character ‘Blue Alph’ created by Patrick Griffiths aka Bunj Wobl featured in many of the Blue Alpha product discs.

Team SAM

A initiative of SamCo to bring together key hardware and software vendors together.

From memory members included SamCo, Enigma Variations, PBT Electrionics, SCPDSA, GM Software and Format Publications.
