Can we have a quick link to ‘Hardware’ as there is probably enough content to justify it?

The ‘Gordon’ half of Miles Gordon Technology, before forming MGT bruce was a hardware designer at Sinclair Research in Cambridge.

One of the most famous storys was that Bruce offered to design and build an upgrade to the Coupé to address its shortcomings such as lack of DMA and hardware scrolling if ‘1000 people sent him £50’ to develop a new ASIC. This was announced in the November 1992 issue of Your Sinclair. However, only 64 coupons (pledging support for the offer) were received.

Suffered from speed problems due to the interpreted nature of the code running under the ‘supervisor’ run-time componant but a compiler was supposed to be forthcoming to solve these issues.

The MC1377 will generate a composite video from basebandThe MC1377 will generate a composite video from baseband red, green, blue, and sync inputs. On board features include: a color subcarrier oscillator; voltage controlled 90° phase shifter; two double sideband suppressed carrier (DSBSC) chroma modulators; and RGB input matrices with blanking level clamps. Such features permit system design with few external components and accordingly, system performance comparable to studio equipment with external components common in receiver systems.
