“Humphrey”, is a general purpose disk utility, for the SAM Coupé.
Its features include: showing which parts of the disk are used by a chosen file, “unerasing” erased files, “unhiding” and “unprotecting” of hidden and protected files, sorting the directory into alphabetical order and erasing a file, with a single keypress.
It was initially released by SAMCo as part of the SAM Birthday Pack, and later by Steve Nutting on a Utility compilation - also on SAM Quartet Magazine with re-writes by Simon Goodwin

File Manager
Submitted by Frode on Sun, 2006-05-07 09:57. Utility1992
File Manager is a Sam Coupe filing program designed to give the greatest possible flexibility. File size is governed only by the size of ramdisc in use, and up to 26 fields are available per record. Fields may be of any size up to 248 characters and may vary from record to record.
The number of fields is determined when the file structure is created, but there is provision for spare fields, held in reserve, which can be brought into use at any time if it is found that new information categories need to be added to the records.
Any number of screen display layouts may be defined for information organization and presentation. Text labels may be added as required.
File printing uses the screen layouts, so the user can determine the presentation of information in hard copy. Individual records may be separated on paper by blank lines or by a line of dashes.
Headers and page numbers may be added and single or multiple copies of printouts obtained. There is a special option for label printing using stationery with more than one label across the web.
Records are not sorted in the file, but sort lists may be prepared which will display records in order of a chosen field. A sort list may be fine sorted by taking into consideration other fields as specified by the user, if the main sort field is identical in any records.
Records may be selected and selected records sorted, displayed, printed, saved as a separate file, or deleted from the main file. The contents of one field in all selected records may be deleted, or filled with the same information in each record.

External PSU
Submitted by Dan Dooré on Sat, 2006-05-06 22:16.
The PSU holds both the +5V and +12v supplies as well as the RF modulator (Channel 36) with a cable that carries the power to the Coupé and a composite video and monaural audio back to the PSU for the modulator. A flying RF cable connects back to the television from the PSU.
The PSU is rated as follows:
5V DC 2A
12V DC 100mA
The 12v is only required internally by the PAL/NTSC video encoder so if you use an RGB Scart lead with RGB there is no need to provide a 12V supply at all to the Sam.
With the connector to the Sam carrying the 5V and 12V down and the composite video and mono audio back up to the modulator this was a recipe for a lot of interference on the RF signal. One fix was to allegedly remove the modulator and box it up separate from the PSU however more popular was to just use RGB/Composite via the RGB Scart.
One issue is that the 5V is a little anemic if trying to internally power a had disc with the Atom.
The External PSU was an Amstrad CPC MP2 http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/AmstradMP1/MP2modulator but sprayed (not very well) white.
The Amstrad CPC’s were normally powered from their dedicated monitors which meant that the MP1/MP2 units were an after-sales unit and according to Bob Brenchley when Bruce Gordon was looking for a PSU for the Sam one supplier had a lot of these lying around in a warehouse unsold and so were snapped up by MGT.
